The Fixed Shower Seat is front-mounted and engineered to reduce the possible risk of the fixture being used as a ligature device.
Ligature-resistant design is based upon the overall dimensions of the Rectangular Shower Seat as shown in ADA Guidelines [610.3; 610.3.1]. The manufacturer makes no claims for ADA compliance due to the fixed seat design.
Seat construction is welded, seamless, and fabricated from 14-gauge type 304 stainless steel with exposed surfaces finished in Enviro-Glaze® white powder coat (-EG10).
Seat width is offered in sizes to suit a variety of applications, including Shower Stall depths of 30” and 36”. Widths offered allow for side wall mounting with a 3” gap at entry and Seat abutted against the rear wall (to eliminate wedging risk).
Mounting utilizes a concealed heavy-gauge S-Clip Mounting Bracket for hanging the seat at the top and includes an exposed Lower Flange for attaching the seat to the wall. Recommended Wall Mounting Hardware and Wall Anchors shall be 3/8" diameter and are provided by others to suit wall construction and meet minimum load ratings of 250 lbs. Exposed fasteners should be vandal-resistant in design.
Recommended installation should include an appropriate Security Caulk product to eliminate any voids or crevices that may serve as a ligature point. Position of Seat within a corner with an adjacent Wall may present a ligature point where an object may be wedged.
